Most jobs take about an hour, but the size of the area to be cleaned, and the state of the carpet will affect that. Our powerful equipment means your carpets will be dry sooner. Every job is different, so call us and we’ll gladly give you some personalized advice.
While we do as much as we can to make after-cleaning care simple, there are some things to keep in mind for the first 24 hours. This is how long it will take for your carpet to get so dry that it can be treated as normal. Remember that as it dries, stepping from carpet onto hard surfaces may be slippery. Also, be aware that while it dries, dirt will stick to it more easily, so keep the traffic minimal and clean. After 24 hours, you can then remove the blocks and enjoy your renewed carpets.
Yes, our technicians always wear shoe covers. They will also give you some new ones when they’re finished. This will help you to take care of your carpet during the airing period.
As soon as it is finished it is safe for you to walk on, but doing so will not give the best results for your carpet. As the carpet dries, it retains its open state. Walking on it early risks unnecessary compaction. The more moisture remaining in the carpet, the more easily dirt will stick to it. So certainly in the first 6 hours, use shoe covers or wear clean white socks. After 24 hours, the carpet can be used normally.
Yes we do. All light to medium furniture will be moved by our technicians, and then replaced to original position on completion. Some furniture will be on styrofoam blocks or other protectors. These must be removed by the customer after 24 hours. Heavy furniture that can’t be moved safely by our technicians must be moved before they arrive. Or exposed carpeting will be cleaned around heavy furniture.
It is true that some spots and stains are not able to be removed. Our cleaning solutions, and the process we use gives you the best chance of getting it out that can be offered. Our technicians also know a lot about this and will give you their honest opinion before starting. If you know exactly what caused the stain, ask us about it when you call.
There are two common causes of recurring spots. One happens when a stain that is deeper in the pile is wicked up by the fibers to mark the clean surface. This process might only take a few days. Because we pre-treat and agitate stains before cleaning, and because our powerful equipment does a deep clean, this is much less likely to happen when serviced by Master’s Touch Steam Cleaning.
The other cause of spots gradually appearing, is because the fibers of the carpet have remained sticky after cleaning. These sticky fibers hold onto any new dirt very tightly and make the spot reappear. Because our truck-mounted equipment delivers true steam, and because our cleaning solutions are very effective, this is unlikely to happen after being serviced by our company.
The only way to put color into a carpet where it has been lost, is to spot dye it. This is a specialized service that we do not currently offer. It may be possible for us to cut out a bleached spot and swap it for a piece from a hidden location like in a closet. Our technicians are always happy to provide further advice after inspection.
Using high temperature steam and focusing on these locations with specialized equipment can significantly improve indentations. But there is a limit to how much can be lifted due to the backing being crushed and the type of carpet involved. Our skilled technicians have the best equipment to recover as much as is possible.
There are two main concerns with carpets. One is damage being caused to the fibers. The other is the fibers becoming stained.
Damage to the fibers is caused by them rubbing against tiny sharp particles. Often these are too small to see. These may be causing damage even when the carpet looks clean. To stop this type of wear and tear, vacuuming the carpet twice a week is recommended. This is especially important in high traffic areas.
Regular vacuuming can also pick up other things that mark or stain the carpet. Some stains can be removed much more effectively by treating them as soon as they occur. Different stains respond better to different treatments. So get good advice before taking action.
Both stains and worn in particles can be removed more effectively with true steam and the right cleaning solutions. That’s why manufacturers recommend getting your carpets professionally steam cleaned by a quality operator once a year.
And to make it harder for stains and dirt to stick in your carpet, a carpet treatment should be applied as required. New carpets are often pre-treated. But over time these treatments will need to be replaced. It is important to get this done by a professional company that will use the correct products.
Warranty – Copies of specific warranties on your carpet purchase are available for you upon request. Stain resist warranties can vary from 5 to 20 years. ALL STAIN RESIST WARRANTIES REQUIRE REGULAR CLEANING AND IMMEDIATE SPOT REMOVAL.
Vacuuming – Vacuum your carpet often! Once or twice a week at least. Vacuuming removes the sharp soil that can cut and slice the fiber causing premature wear. Much of this soil is not visible to the eye. Vacuum before the carpet looks soiled. Remove any loose particles such as loose food, leaves, pieces of crayon, bugs, etc. as these items can cause a spot on the carpet.
Professional Cleaning – As a general rule, professional cleaning by a professional, certified firm should take place about once per year. For extremely heavy traffic areas, cleaning may be required more often. Proper professional cleaning will not leave a sticky residue behind and can be done as many times per year as needed. MANY STAIN RESIST WARRANTIES REQUIRE PROFESSIONAL CLEANING EVERY 2 YEARS. Professional cleaning removes the damaging soil in traffic areas that vacuuming has not been able to remove. WARNING: UNINFORMED CARPET CLEANERS MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
Protective Coatings – Residential carpets are treated with stain resist properties and soil resistors known as Dupont Teflon or 3M Scotchgard. After a period of 2 to 3 years, some of the soil-resistor wears off. At that point you should consider having a professional carpet cleaner re-apply the treatment after professional cleaning. The soil resistor will help the soil slide off of the carpet easier when vacuuming, spots will be easier to remove, and professional cleaning will be more effective.
